I've loved creating art for as long as I can remember, but I've had my ups and downs with it throughout my life.
After I graduated high school I figured I'd put art on the back burner and do something "useful" with my life. But after a few years, I really started to miss it. I decided one night that I was going to go back to school and get an art degree. It wasn't til then that I realized how much I didn't actually know about art. No understanding of color and value, no understanding of composition or form, etc. I wasn't aware of any contemporary artists or what career options were available in the field of art.
I began looking at other artists online and I realized how much I enjoyed digital art. I bought a tablet and created my first disaster (I didn't even bother saving lol).
It was slightly discouraging at first, but also inspiring. I finally found something to put my heart into and there was no turning back for me at that point. In the last 18 months, I have grown more as an artist than I ever thought possible. I know I still have a long way to go before I reach my goals, but I learn new things everyday.
I've discovered many amazing artists who I now look up to and am slowly figuring out which path I will take.
I have days where I want to give up, comparing my work to other artists and feeling like I'll never be that good.
But then I have the days where I can see my progress and it's revitalizing.
Today was one of my bad days, but tonight, right now, I feel some sort of spark and that's enough to keep me going.
